In the new year (subject to the clearance of this appointment rules consultation), Social Work England will be advertising for a range of roles for social workers and other professionals including fitness to practise investigators, specialist advisers, case examiners and hearing panellists. Do watch out for those going live and share with your networks.
Under the legal framework that governs our organisation we are committed to consult on such appointments. This will help inform how we appoint advisers for example, together with the skills, knowledge and experience needed for education approval inspectors and requirements and restrictions for adjudicators, case examiners or investigators in fitness to practise proceedings.
We remain committed at each stage of Social Work England’s development to provide opportunities to listen to the sector and engage with them to help shape our work. This includes online engagement, focus groups and further consultations on rules and standards planned for early 2019.
As mentioned, in this particular consultation we specifically welcome views on:
- The appointment of advisers by Social Work England;
- The establishment of panels of advisers;
- The role of inspectors appointed to inspect courses of education and training;
- Requirements and restrictions in relation to those appointed as case examiners, investigators and adjudicators for fitness to practise proceedings
This consultation can be found on our website here: https://socialworkengland.org.uk/appointment-rules/
We believe Social Work England has the potential to make a real difference in improving the status of the profession by working to ensure that regulation contributes effectively to protect individuals and families who need support.
We welcome your views both here and over the coming months in this unique opportunity to improve our profession
